Anti-Pop Ideology, and The Cold War against Pop

The creation of the Anti Abuse Resistance was fueled by the abuse and injustice brought by the server known as Pop. This period in yegg history was known as The Funnymeme Era and brought tensions to yegg. These tensions persisted long after Pop was shut down, to the surprise of many members of yegg.

The so-called "cold war" between yegg and Pop was certainly a period of time to remember.

During The Funnymeme Era, tensions sky-rocketed, so to speak, reinforcing the creation and legitimization of the Anti Abuse Resistance; a pro-memer resistance group founded by the yeggits in an effort to stop anti-memery and allow greater freedom for pro-memers and memers alike. As a prominent believer in pro-memery, TonyTCB puts it:

"In our defense for the chaos, the anti-memers fired the first bullet."

The collapse of Pop set the precedent that anti-memery was not to be taken lightly and was not ok. This thought process sticks today in modern conflicts between members of yegg and members of The Existence Network, over what kinds of memery is ok and what kinds take it too far.
